Last weekend continued

We left Seattle early Saturday morning, around 7:30, and headed to the Washington Coast.  I have already been there once, but I knew Joseph would love it... and I was RIGHT!
We drove to La Push, WA... home of the Twilight werewolves and camped on the beach.

The BEAUTIFUL Lake Crescent which we passed on our way to the beach.
If only this sunshine was a predictor of our weekend weather.  Apparently, if there is sunshine inland, it is pushing the cloudy fog to the shore. Bummer.

This is the beach where we camped.  It's called third beach.
You have to hike 1.4 miles in to the beach from your car, carrying everything!

Those are sea stacks off in the distance

Putting his feet in the Pacific Ocean!

Our campsite!

Our dinner the first night: chicken fajitas and fresh corn on the cob.  Joseph made our fire pit!

He was proud

My awesome hiking attire...it was COLD

On top of a waterfall that was near those sea stacks you just saw

Joseph hanging off the side of a cliff!

These were sites on our 4 mile hike!

The awesome tree I took my picture with earlier in the summer

On our last morning, the weather was BEAUTIFUL!

This is the lowest tide of the month.  The night before was the highest tide of the month.  Notice all of the rocks you couldn't see before...we thought they were whales!

The lines the seaweed made as they were pulled out to sea

Joseph carried ALL of this on our 1.4 mile hike out! he is champ!

Goodbye Washington coast!

On our way home, we took a ferry (my first one ever) to Seattle.

The  Seattle skyline from the ferry

It was a weekend we will never forget! So, I will leave you with this...

Joseph's Last Weekend was EPIC

We had so much fun this past weekend that it has to be split into two posts....
Friday, I was able to get off work at two and we drove to Seattle for a Mariners vs Yankees game!  It was awesome..except they lost.

It is right on the water.  This is what you see as you are driving down the interstate!

A sculpture made of baseball bats

A. Rod...AKA Cameron Diaz's boyfriend!

Suzuki Ichiro is Joseph's favorite!

Ichiro's diehard fans...they got really excited everytime he got up to bat!

Great Memories!

Leaving Seattle... Mt Ranier is in the background just to the left of the bridge..
but it blends in with the clouds

Bavarian 4th of July

So for the fourth of July we all headed to Leavenworth, WA, a Bavarian village with an interesting history in itself.  Here is a smidget of their history!
The town was originally called Icicle.  It is located in the beautiful Cascade mountains.  In the 1890s, The Great Northern Railway Company ran through Icicle, bringing with it business and prosperity.  The railroad company eventually pulled out and rerouted its tracks, leaving the town near extinction for the next thirty years.  In the early 1960s, the city decided to do something about it and decided to turn their town into a Bavarian Village.  They completely renovated all of the downtown buildings to look like what you see today.  Now many Germans that move from Germany to America live here because of its likeness to their previous home.  Leavenworth now even has a German newspaper that is delivered everyday and most of the restaurants sell Bratwursts and other German foods!  Very interesting...

Yodeling!

We set up camp about 20 miles up into the mountains at a campsite that filled up fast.  It was near Johnny Creek which was icicle cold.

We embarked on a 6-mile hike on the 4th of July... notice our patriotic attire

The water that ran through Icicle Gorge.  This was on our hike.

The last day of our trip, Joseph and I went white water rafting on the Wenatchee river...which was AWESOME! We chose to do the level 3 rapids.  Next time, we are going for the 4s!

Donning my nice, hot pink wetsuit

Flattering, I know...

Our raft guide and his girlfriend.. they were awesome!  After the raft trip, they cooked hamburgers and s'mores for us!

It was a wonderful way to celebrate Independence Day!

Hoopfest and Ironman

Two weekends ago, we went to Hoopfest with my supervisor and her children.  For those of you who don't know, Hoopfest is the largest 3 on 3 tourney in the WORLD.  This year there were 6,990 teams...just TEAMS not counting spectators.  There were estimated to be 200,000 people at hoopfest this year!  They block off all of the streets downtown and set up courts EVERYWHERE.

The Shootoff that Joseph made it to the semi finals for!  He would have one me a brand new Rav4!

The second half of our weekend was spent in Coeur d'alene with friends from MS! We watched Michael Hancock cross the finish line for his first Ironman!  It was so fun to catch up!

Andrea, Joseph, and I waiting for Michael to cross the finish line! Team Hancock!

Waiting patiently!
